Feeding Canned Food? This Can Happen After Just 2 Weeks
-
A 2017 study concluded that even short-term feeding of canned dog food dramatically increases dogs’ exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA), an industrial chemical
- BPA is an endocrine disruptor that is associated with a range of health problems in both humans and animals
- After just two weeks eating two different brands of widely available canned dog food, BPA levels tripled in the dogs in the study
- BPA exposure also caused metabolic changes and alterations in the gut microbiome of the dogs
- It’s impossible to know if canned dog food labeled “BPA-free” really is, other than to ask companies for third party validation
