Day School

Cost of private daycare included.

Drop your dog off in the morning, and he goes home with you that night, just a little wiser! An especially nice choice if your dog is already coming to The Animal Keeper  for Camp or Daycare.

Day School is available in packages of 10, 15 or 20 lessons. Fill out the Training Intake Interview Form, and schedule a meeting with the training staff, and we will individualize a program for you and your dog.

You will get periodic report cards about our dog’s progress, and you will meet with your trainer weekly (or as scheduled) for a Transfer of Skills session.

Board & Train

Combines Comfy Boarding and Training

Your dog stays with us for 20 days, enjoying the excellent care we are famous for, while your trainer, a professional level member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, works with him using modern, gentle and effective training methods.

The trainer will teach your dog all the basic skills: Loose leash walking, Sit and Down on word and signal, Sit-Stay, Down Stay, Come when Called, and Leave It, working with your dog in a variety of environments, to proof the behaviors against distraction.

When it is time for your dog to go home, you will meet with your trainer, so he or she can demonstrate the skills your dog has learned, and coach you as you take over the reins. You will also go home with a training handbook and DVD of the skills and tools necessary to maintain the training – courtesy of The Animal Keeper Academy.

Our Trainers

Justin Webster – Trainer Animal Keeper Poway

Professional Level Member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers

Justin first joined the Animal Keeper Poway team in 2010. He has always been a lover of dogs and all animals.

Justin had previously spent time working at a retreat where he got to work with Zebras and other kinds of wild animals. This was an unforgettable and valuable experience.

He became interested in dog training after coming to The Animal Keeper and becoming a camp counselor. He wanted to learn not only for his own personal interest but so he could better his skills as a camp counselor.

Justin currently has 4 of his dogs: Lady (pit bull mix), Kingston (pit bull mix), Mitch (pit bull mix), and Billie (shiba inu mix).

Edgar Mayoral – Trainer Animal Keeper Encinitas

Professional Level Member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers

Edgar enjoys teaching dogs and coaching their human families. He especially enjoys helping children build a bond with their pet. Edgar is also a great problem solver – he specializes in helping dogs who pull on leash and demonstrate dog-dog reactivity to develop focus and self control. He is the lead trainer at The Animal Keeper Encinitas.

Alex Denby – Trainer Animal Keeper Encinitas

Professional Level Member of The Association of Professional Dog Trainers

Since he was a child Alex has had a great affection for animals, especially dogs. Growing up, there were always two dogs in the family and he loved to teach them new tricks. Alex’s background includes: dog bathing/grooming, dog sitting/walking, camp counselor, and now a dog trainer at The Animal Keeper.  Alex’s dream has always been to become a trainer and he not only adores what he does, but takes pride in producing great final results.

Bennett Sharp – Trainer The Animal Keeper Oceanside

Professional level member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers

Bennett’s background in protecting, serving and teaching (as a life guard and as a guitar teacher, amongst other things) combined with his love for animals, created his path to being a dog trainer.

His experience with pet care includes managing large dog play groups and certification in dog CPR and first aid.

As a trainer Bennett wants to set his clients and their pups up for the best possible life!

Testimonials

Edgar Did An Amazing Job

I have to tell you that Edgar did an amazing job with Lily and I am very happy with her results. I believe that Edgar was able to give my little baby Lily freedom for the rest of her life that would have been very hard to provide to her without his loving coaching.

Thank you from our entire family.

Review 3/8/18 – 5 Stars

Our recent newly adopted dog, Mishka, needed to become more comfortable with other dogs. We took her for training with Justin and he did an excellent job with her. She really looked forward to her training sessions and play times in the yard. By the end of training, not only did she love Justin, but she became very comfortable with the other dogs during play time. Justin did a great job in training us in how to manage her while meeting other dogs. I highly recommend Justin and Animal Keeper.
